The Webby Creator Weekend in NYC was one that you didn’t want to miss out on. It was a two-day experience equipped with networking opportunities, activations, and panels that gave attendees insight into how they, too, can win a Webby.
I had the privilege of attending day one, which consisted of the following schedule:
12:00 PM — Social Welcome to Creator Weekend. Grab a drink, find your people, and settle in for a day of conversations and connections.
1:10 PM — Building a Podcast Audience That Lasts with Patreon
2:05 PM — Keynote: An Afternoon with “A Twink and a Redhead”
3:00 PM — Create Without Limits: How AI Is Expanding Who Creates
3:55 PM — Built in Public: Scaling Everyday Content
While all of the panels were informative, the last one stood out the most. The panel was moderated by everyone’s “favorite” dancing weatherman, Nick Kisor, and featured other creators who shared their own advice on content creation.
This panel was especially impactful because it gave audience members an inside look into creating both long-form and short-form content. One of the biggest takeaways came from creator Christian Crosby. For Crosby, creating planned content all the time may not work. However, when he captures candid moments; this content tends to come out the best.
One thing that was missing from the Webby Creator Weekend panels was the personal creative question that many of us may want to ask ourselves: Are you a creative, or are you a brand?
I challenge you to use this as a creative self-reflective journal prompt and let me know what happens.
