Happiness is more than a feeling, it's a location set in NBC’s hit series Happy’s Place. The show centers Bobbie, played by Reba McEntire, who inherits her late father’s bar. Her world quickly becomes complicated when she learns she will have a new business partner: Isabella, portrayed by Belissa Escobedo, a twenty-something half-sister she never knew existed. Happy's Place builds a strong sense of community, warmth, and joy, honoring the memory of Bobbie’s father. Through humor, the series explores loss while emphasizing togetherness and connection. It has that spirit of collaboration among the characters, creators and producers; stemming together to create one collective voice. The writing and performances convey a space that feels like family and a true home away from home.
For executive producer Pamela Fryman and creator Kevin Abbott the viewer is the most important. With their unique blend of comedic expertise, they want "people to tune in and feel the full range of human emotion"(Abbott). As creatives, they understand that "life isn't always easy. You are going to have difficulties. We like to point out the humor in these situations, but ultimately the message we turn to a lot is - we can get through this, if we can get through this together"(Abbott). The heart of the series encourages us to remember the importance of supporting one another and how to find hope through connection. “What’s a more perfect way to spend a half an hour?” (Fryman). My bets are on this being a new addition to your must - watch list. "Happy's Place" brings a new sense of humor and emotional warmth to a screen near you.
Tune in to Happy's Place Fridays at 8pm EST on NBC.
