Jesus of Nazareth was chosen and Mother Mary (Vanessa Benavente) gave him life.
Vanessa Benavente and I sat for a virtual interview to discuss the highly anticipated new season of "The Chosen".
The show's fifth season,"THE CHOSEN: Last Supper" bridges together a new day for Jesus and Jerusalem. It ushers in a new chapter for audiences as Jesus's revelation that he is the Messiah positions him as a potential threat to society
From the point of view and gaze of Jesus's mom, Mother Mary (Vanessa Benavente), we can expect to see her new unbelievable reality of her son as a beacon of peace, divinity and the word of GOD. Though the season features many characters and "apostles" alike, there wouldn't be a Jesus without Mother Mary.
In this new season, Jesus embarks on his journey to being publicly known as the Messiah, and Mother Mary learns to accept it. Benavente (Mother Mary) states that "Jesus has yet to show his public life, so we see her (Mother Mary) at a moment when he does." This moment is one where Mother Mary (Vanessa Benavente) finally feels like her life is ready to shift, as Jesus’s newfound importance leaves great “impact” that Benavente (Mother Mary) thinks "is big". Mother Mary (Vanessa Benavente) not only carries maternal worry, but also has to face fame and public recognition that won’t always be peaceful.
Plagued with the idea of possible skepticism from their community, Mother Mary (Vanessa Benavente) has to stand strong and “be in support” of her son. The key to familial support is to “let go of worry” and have “faith” in Jesus. With Mother Mary's faith comes "trust" and in this season we can expect to see a dramatic testament of change, free speech and a fight for a brand new day.
Catch THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER's full eight-episode season on the Chosen app on Sunday September 28th. This is a season you don't want to miss! "It's a season packed with so many iconic moments" (Benavente)!
